Meri Kirihimete! Today we were learning about the summer learning journey. we did this because it is coming to the end of the year. for this task we watched a video to know what we were supposed to be doing. we opened our chromebooks and got on the summer learning journey site. then there was a link to a colouring in book there was an original one and NASA one witch was brand new. I was so exited to use it! I enjoyed using the new NASA colouring in book and I found it challenging to pick colours for the NASA colourings. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog post today.

Parihaka

Today I was learning about parihaka. We learnt this because on the friday of that week it was the day that parihaka happened. For this task we had to find team and make a skit or a play about parihaka. It took everybody a while to make a play and it also took quite long to make a video because everybody needed to know there part. I found enjoyed learning about parihaka because it never new what it meant and I found it challenging to do the video and know what part your doing. Last week we were learning about diwali. Do you know what diwali means? For this task we had to read three books so we knew what diwali meant then we watched two videos to know what a rongali is. A rongali is a traditional indian art work that they do for diwali. For this piece of art work we watched the video and copied the drawing from the video. Then we colour it in and outlined it with a black maker. I enjoyed learning about diwali because i have never learnt about it before and I found it challenging to draw the rangoli pattern. For the past week we have been doing art. We learnt this because we were on assembly. Assembly is where the whole school gets together and one class is on assembly they host it,pick songs for it and alot more. For this task we had to take a photo, put it into a laminating pocket and trace over it. Then we made our skin tone and hair color to paint on the inside of the laminating pocket. 2021 achievements!

Today We were working on our 2021 achievements. We were learning this because we had a cybersmart teacher in our class to teach us how to use canva. for this task we had to go to canva and make a new slide. Then we chose a background and started our achievements. after we chose a background we did a video. to do this video you click on uploads and click on record yourself. after that you insert the video and that is how you make a video on canva. I enjoyed learning new things about canva and I found it challenging to find three achievements through out the year. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog post today?

Rongoa Manuka

For the past two weeks we have been learning about Rongoa. We learned this because we have a lot of native New Zealand plants in our school garden. For this task we had to pick a plant that was in our school garden. I chose Manuka then we had to read a couple of stories. After we read them we had to get a piece of wood and write a fact on the piece of wood about the tree that we are doing. Then we got the paint and painted it. The last thing we did was nail in a stake to make it ready to put in the garden. I enjoyed learning facts about Manuka and I found it challenging to nail in the stake to put into the garden. What is service?

Toady we were learning about service. we are learning this because service is our RE Value for the term. for this task we had to choose a template and make it into a service post. then we animatted it which

Why dancing is the best sport!🩰💃

For the past couple of weeks we have been doing speeches. We are learning speeches because we do them every year. For this task we had to choose a topic for our speech then we highlighted an example. Then we planned our speech. My speech topic was why dancing is the best sport. Do you think that dancing is the best sport? I do! I enjoyed learning about dancing and what it does to you and I found it challenging to finish it in time to show it to my class. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog post today?

I firmly believe that dancing is a great sport for your health? Have you ever thought about trying dance? Today in my speech I will be talking about three types of dance jazz, tap and ballet. Today I will state three reasons why dance is a great sport. 

Firstly, ballet gives you great posture because you need to keep your shoulders up. Every kind of dance keeps you super fit, for example tap, ballet, jazz, hyland dancing and a lot more. “I live with two brothers, that's how I learned to tap dance - waiting for the bathroom!” When you are dancing ballet you are very focussed because sometimes people put you into competitions and you need to perform a dance and while you perform it  is very important that you are concentrated and ready to dance.

Secondly, dance is a great way to exercise. Did you know that I dance tap 2 times a week? Isn't that amazing! When you dance you are reducing a lot of stress from your body? Did you know when you do tap dancing you are improving the condition of your heart and lungs? Any kind of dance can help you memorise important things. When you tap dance you are lowering the risk of health problems.

Thirdly, dancing is enjoyable. I love it! The one bad thing about dancing is that it is very expensive because you are learning so many different things everyday. Dancing gives you so many ideas for things like doing a competition for the first time or showing your class your dance and a lot more. Jazz keeps your mind very active because it releases your endorphins. Every kind of dance gives you a kind of calming effect on your body from expressing your feelings. Did you know that when you dance it gives you a great mood because you love to be there.

In this piece of writing I have explained why dancing is the best sport. Dancing is the best sport because it teaches you to point your feet, it is a great way to exercise and it gives you great posture. I hope you enjoyed listening to my speech about why dancing is the best sport and maybe you would want to try.

For this task we had to read and watch about our saint then we opened up a google drawing and used scratch and shapes to draw our saint. Fantail calendar art!

For the past few weeks we have been learning about NZ native birds, we have also been doing our calendar art. For this task we had to choose an NZ native bird. I choose a fantail because I like when it puts its big tail out it looks very pretty. Then we had to draw the bird onto the special paper, then we drew shapes inside of the bird's body, next we got a photo off of the internet, then we got pencils that were the colour of our bird. Then we chose a colour for our background. I chose yellow and green then we had to mix the colour together. After all of the die had dried we got some crepe paper that were the colors of our backgrounds then we did one or two layers of the crepe paper in the colour of the background. Today we were learning how to explain the beatitudes. doe you know what social justice week is? for this task we had to watch a couple of videos then we choose what beatitude we wanted to do. I chose the peacemakers one. then we read a storey for what beatitude we were doing.  then we opened up a slide or google drawing and made a poster about our beatitude. Today we were reading about a little red riding hood. for this task we had to red a book then we watched two videos one video was the wolf’s storey and the other video was the little red riding hood’s storey. Then we had to click a link to a google slide and on the google slide  we had to write our opinion why he was guilty and why he wasn't guilty. I enjoyed learning about little red ridding hood and the wolf and i found it challenging to choose if he was guilty or not. we were learning to read about the perspective.

Dog vs cats 🐕🐈‍⬛

Today we were learning about cats and dogs. Do you like cats or dogs? I like dogs. For this task we had to watch two videos and read one book about cats. Then we got on to a slide. On the slide we had to write down three reason why cats are better than dogs and why dogs are better than cats. Today we were doing PE we have been learning how to do challenger. For this task we had to watch a video and do 4 challenges once we had finished all of the tasks we had to go to a sheet and write our team name and say how many points we got. For this task we had to roll a dice three times and roll a six which was six burpees, six star jumps and six sit ups.  I enjoyed doing this activity because we got to do things like eat 2 different veggies and 2 different fruits. Today we were doing maths. For this task we had to go to a google slide that had different furniture and you can click on any piece of furniture and it would take you to a question. There were 11 questions that you had to answer.  Composting

What is it?

Do you know what a compost bin is? A compost bin breaks down organic matter like banana peels, apple skins, carrot peels, lettuce, bread and alot more. Do you have a compost bin at home in your backyard?

How is it made?

Do you know how to make a compost bin? If you dont i will teach you today. To make a compost bin you will need of course a compost bin soil, food scraps like water egg shells to start off with, then you put all of your food scraps in your compost and wait a little while for it to set. Once it is finished you repeat the process. Now you know how to make a home made compost bin.

The benefits of composting.

 The benefits of composting is that it makes our plants stay alive and healthy. It stops all of the food scraps from going into the bin. It improves the quality of the soil. It reduces landfill waste by turning it into soil that grows plants.

Today we were learning about science. Do you know what happens when you mix baking soda and vinegar? For this task we had to watch a video on a website after we watched that we got the baking soda and the vinegar out with the balloon, funnel  and plastic bottle once we had done that we had to put the vinegar in the plastic bottle and put the baking soda in the balloon and went outside to do the experiment. I enjoyed seeing and watching the experiment to see what would happen if you mixed vinegar and baking soda and I found it challenging to put the baking soda into the balloon. how many species of kiwis are there left?

Today I was learning about kiwis. I learnt about kiwis because we had a task and that task had included some of the native New Zealand animals. For this task we had to find 11 animals hidden in a forest and when we found them we got to choose one of those animals and I chose a kiwi. We had a question about our animal that we got to pick and I picked how many species are there left of kiwis because i wanted to know the answer and that answer is only 5 species left of kiwis in the whole world.
